Stop selling what you do not have, without checking the freezer.
On any product, tick Track inventory and enter how many you have. The count drops automatically as orders are paid, and the product shows as sold out at zero.
Taking pre-orders
Tick Allow backorder to keep selling past zero — useful for a beef share you have not processed yet. Be clear in the description about when it will be ready.
When you cancel or refund
Stock goes back automatically, and only once, however many times you click.
Things that do not need counting
Leave Track inventory off for anything you always have. Eggs in season, for instance, are usually easier to manage by just turning the product off when you run out.
